it may well be more powerful than renamemaster but renamemaster is much easier to use and has practicaly no learning curve as does this. as well, renamemaster is but a 1.2mb portable folder (on my pc).if i need to rename 5gigs of mp3's i certainly would not use this (assinine). mp3tag as well as tagscanner will name them for you via freedb.

comodo has chosen to go to the dark side, so i won't be using their products any more.

rainlendar? but rainlendar does't support weather forecast for 7 days, and can't open outlook task directly. anyway, i like it. it offers what i need.

i am very happy with burrrn because it is a small and simple program which does the disk-at-once burning which i need for operas. i am using burrrn version 1.14 beta 2 with xp home sp2. there is a convenient "disk info" button which verifies that you have a blank disk in the drive and it tells you the capacity of the disk in minutes. after adding files to the burn list you can drag and drop them to get them in the correct order. the total length of all files to be burned is given in a box on the rhs of the window so you can verify that you are not trying to put too much music on the disk. i had to uncheck all the boxes under settings/replay-gain because the default setting with "dither" gave noisy recordings with my wav files. i had been using nero express 5.5 on my old computer but it is an oem version which would not transfer to my new computer and i did not want to buy a copy of the latest nero bloatware. i find burrrn to be easier to use than nero and a lot smaller. i am using burrrn in conjunction with audiograbber, a free ripper, which does an excellent job of avoiding the copy protection that is often inserted in cd recordings of operas. nero 5.5 could not deal with the copy protection problems so the combo of audiograbber and burrn is very simple and much more effective than nero.

do not buy this software. you will be paying to be a beta-tester. do not attempt to nick it either -- it phones home. jim hillegrass, the ceo of jriver is one of the heaviest-handed, most insane control freaks i have ever seen in my life and you would do best to never go near him.

i've used this tool for a very long, and i still do. it works very well, and the ui is both pleasant + powerful. really i don't have anything negative to say. but, i can only give it 4 stars because of 7-zip. 7-zip is free, delivers overall higher compression, and generally faster on very large files, large databases, large sets of files etc. that said - the winrar ui is slightly better, but for a true tool i care about most about what it delivers, and i use 7zip for compression (tip: use lzma2 compression when creating .7z files, i'm not sure why this isn't the default!!!)one big plus of winrar is the file format is more standard/widespread, so it's more common for someone you're sending files to have winrar installed.
